Sometimes, It Only Takes A Dollar

Not bad for a buck, huh?
Many years ago I had a tag sale and I swore that I would never, ever do it again.  We had just moved into our current home and I wanted a fresh decorating start.  I figured that I could use the cash for renovations.
The items were all in such great shape it was hard for me to just dump or donate them, so I decided a sale would be the way to go.  Monetarily it was a huge success, I made almost $700.00 in two days, but it was exhausting.  I have not had another one since and the local thrift shop loves me now, as I am a very frequent donator!

That being said, I do enjoy going to tag sales.  I am always looking for unique items, I'm drawn to antiques, I like project pieces but, above all, I cannot resist a bargain!  This past weekend, the rain finally paused and my sister had a tag sale of her own.  One of her friends brought over some goodies, too.  I went to poke around a bit and I scored big!  For one dollar apiece, I bought two lovely teapots and a very pretty bowl.  Three dollars and I'm a superstar...check out my kitchen!

A new bowl adds some life and color to my kitchen table.  Tulip season has passed and now I am into lemons and limes.  This bowl is perfect.  I love the colors.

To dress it up a bit and add some height to my circular table, I placed it in a glass trifle bowl.  It is elevated and really pops!

If you hadn't guessed by now, red is my favorite decorating color, so it was impossible to pass this little lady up...and, again, she was only a dollar!

I placed her on my pine server, grabbed two mugs out of the cupboard, added a plate of fruit and voila, a quick and colorful update!  Redecorating does not have to be an expensive proposition!

What do you think, did I get my money's worth?

  4. I think we must be sisters! (Except that would be impossible since both our names are Kim.) When describing yourself, it seemed like you were talking about me. We could sure do some fun thrifting together! Anyway, the bowl looks gorgeous with those lemons and limes, and the tea pot is perfect on your server. (I also love red!) You scored big. :-)
