Simple Split Breast Recipe

I have stated before that I am not a gourmet cook.  I like simple, easy recipes and they don't get any easier than this.  It's so easy, I'm not even sure it can be called a recipe!

Split bone in chicken breasts are great on the barbeque, but they are also very tasty in the oven.  We eat them about once a week, as they don't require any time to prepare and taste yummy with an unlimited amount of side dishes.

Baked in this way, they are also plain enough for kids to love, but satisfy this mom's craving for a meal that does not involve food in nugget form.

I basically pull them out of the package, spray them with Pam or olive oil, sprinkle on onion powder and salt.  I put them in the oven on 350 degrees for 45- 60 minutes and they're done!

I always serve them with a salad and a veggie.  I can get very creative with my side dishes, since it's such a basic dinner and everything tastes good with chicken!  French fries, cheesy potato dishes, rice recipes, noodles, cornbread...you name it and it all goes ~ vary the sides and you have a completely different meal every week!

Too simple for you?

  2. Simplest is so often best, isn't it? And you forgot "healthy," too--chicken breasts are a great lowfat source of protein. Beautiful pics!

  4. I'll need to try this. I am in the same Keep it Simple boat when it comes to cooking. I started to buy pork because it is so much cheaper than steak (my mom didn't prepare pork when I was growing up and my husband and I are just starting out in our new home) and found a super simple pork chop recipe that I craave!
