I'm At A Joyful Cottage Today!

November 29, 2014

Today I have the great pleasure of posting at A Joyful Cottage. Nancy asked me to contribute a piece for her wildly popular Living Large In Small Spaces series and I was thrilled to tell my story!

Pop on over to check out my thoughts and, if you're not familiar with Nancy's blog, stick around and take a peek at some of her other posts, her pretty monthly party and the rest of the series. I promise you will not be disappointed, especially, if like me, you are a lover of the cottage life!

Have a super weekend!

  6. You moved across the street?? THAT sure was easy! I've done that before.
Your little cottage is wonderful. Small is definitely better: I am qualified to say that. God has blessed me with several houses in my lifetime. There was the 1969 12x60 trailer that I bought for my son who never did live in it. But I did work on it a bit. Cute little thing. Then there was the 4013 s.f. 1880 Victorian mansion with 3 floors. Fun to be able to walk 'around' in about a dozen different traffic patterns. Then the 3000 s.f. single floor house with 3 back doors. That was nice, too. But my all-time favorite is the 864 s.f. 2 bedroom 'war cottage'. I bought it specifically because I'd lived in it's twin sister(2) previously - there are dozens of them in town - and loved the floor plan. The only thing it's missing is a way to walk in a circle. However, in my house, there is a 16'x24' carport that we will enclose and make one of the windows in the 2nd bedroom into a door. Then it will be just perfect! (And you KNOW about the trailer! I love small spaces so much better than the mansions.
And YOU, Kim my dear, make such wonderful and beautiful use of your space! So glad I found you!
Nancy, I must look further on your blog to see which design you chose! Designing houses is such fun!

  16. Wow, Nancy, you sure have lived in a wide variety of homes!! You are obviously a true cottage lover and you have the luxury of comparison behind you to be sure. I grew up in a larger home and my grandmother had a real stunner with a bridal staircase in the front foyer and a back staircase in the kitchen (for the help, don't you know!) and I adored that house. The giant bathroom with the claw foot tub and top tank toilet, the myriad of doors leading in and out of the dining room, the butler's pantry and the giant country kitchen were all just gorgeous, but I don't think I would've wanted to live there. I am a cozy style girl! Small is for me, too!! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, Nancy! :)
