Sometimes you just have to think outside of the decorating box and I have the perfect example today.
Do you have a TV in the bedroom or not? I do not and apparently, it doesn't sit well with most people! Want to know why? I do not have a TV in my master bedroom anymore and it seems to be a major point of contention for a lot of people. Most of whom don't even live here.
Looking for a way to dress up your front door for cupid? Here's an easy DIY, a Valentine Triple Wreath. It only cost me three bucks. I am not a fan of a naked front door . I always have something pretty and seasonal to decorate the outside of my home and welcome guests. During late January and early February, I go for red. By this time of winter, I find myself craving color.
Are your candles are naked? Dress them up with a few dollar store blooms. Here's how to make a super easy candle floral rings in no time at all with a little floral wire and a glue gun. Just follow these simple steps. I am generally not a fan of artificial flowers. I believe that I have stated this before, but let's face it, as lovely as real blooms are, you just can't craft with them. If I'm putting flowers in a vase, I always go for real, but when I want to make a wreath for my front door or a garland or virtually anything that involves a glue gun and requires long term staying power, I go for faux.
So it's that time of year I dread again...winter! In my neck of the woods, it tends to be cold, grey, cloudy and blah. I just took down my Christmas trees, so there's no sparkle left inside the house either. I miss summer and all of its glorious color.
Looking for an easy way to decorate your home this February? Check out my super easy DIY Note Card Valentine Banner. It's a crafty way to show the love. Valentine's Day is right around the corner. I don't usually decorate big for the holiday, but I'll be honest, it's hard for me to pass up an opportunity to add a little (more) red to my surroundings.
Several years ago a good friend gave me this pretty, framed needlework saying. I loved it immediately. A sucker for signs and sentiment, this one hit it out of the park. I hung it in my entryway to greet guests and remind them of this simple truth when they walked through the door. I hung it there so my children would see it on the way out to the bus each morning, hoping they would carry it with them throughout their day.
Looking for a way to easily cover up scratches and chips on your wooden pieces? Well, I have a quick furniture fix that is little more than child's play! All it takes is a marker! I am what you would call a selective perfectionist. For example, when I sew, I don't care if seams are perfectly straight or if patterns line up exactly. There's usually enough give and gather to hide my flaws and that's good enough for me. If there is a wrinkle in my bed, however, I must fix it or I cannot rest. It is visible, I can see it, it wrecks my aesthetic and bothers me like crazy until I smooth it out. I call it my princess and the pea syndrome ~ you may not notice it, but I do and it makes me very uncomfortable.
It's time to make those New Year Resolutions again, but I don't care what the calendar says, I am not ready to give up my word from last year. I'm sticking! It's New Year's Day and apparently time to pick a new word of the year, a concept I was introduced to last year, my first January as a blogger. Not a big fan of resolutions in general, I was extremely taken with the idea of picking a single word which would act as my guiding principle for the coming twelve months. It was so freeing to be cut loose from the tedious list I was somehow guilted into preparing each and every December 31st.
