Kristy Woodson Harvey's new book, Slightly South Of Simple is a must read. Come check out my review and see why. Kristy generously provided me with a copy of her book. Ah, it's that time of year when my sleepy little coastal town comes to life again. Boats go in the water, the beaches reopen and I start to read. I have the best memories, of myself as a child, sitting under an umbrella at the ocean, on the swing under the old willow and in the pool floating for hours, reading. Lost in a world of fairies and fantasy, it was much more fun to open a book when school was out and I got to choose the tales on my own.
I've found the best way to clean a white glass top stove. It does the job without scratching, scrubbing and keeps your electric cooktop looking new. I grew up with a gas stove and was told it was the only way to really cook. My dad was in the gas business and my mom was an awesome chef, so who was I to argue. Luckily our first home came with a gas stove.
I am sharing my never fail secret for bargain shopping success. Come and see how I stay under budget and never buy more than I need with one quick trick! I love to shop for home decor. Decorating is my passion, but let's face it, without restraint it can be a very pricey hobby. That doesn't work for me. I was raised by depression era parents, being frugal is in my genes. I also live in a tiny cottage. Too much stuff makes me itch and twitch. Simplifying has been the name of my recent game. That, however, does not mean I like to shop or decorate any less. I just have to be very discerning.
Set a fabulous farmhouse style dinner table in no time at all. We're old movie buffs around here. Black and white, the 30's and 40's, film noir and campy musicals, we watch them all. While they may be new to my kids, I have seen most of these movies many, many times ~ enough times, in fact, to have memorized the scripts and quote them often, whenever I feel that a line pertains to our life. My kids are being raised on a steady diet of old movie quotes.
