It's a holiday weekend and I couldn't be more excited! Yes, I know there are a lot of reasons to celebrate, but truth be told, what has me super excited is the fact that the kids are off from school and Lent is ending and I will be able to eat cake again!!
Looking for a quick and easy way to fluff up your old flat pillows? Check out this easy DIY. My family room couch is old. We've had it for almost fifteen years and we use it every day. It's held up pretty well, with the exception of one, um...mishap , but the pillows? Oh the pillows. Well, now that's a totally different story. They had been well loved over the years and it showed. They were saggy and flat, deflated, uncomfortable to rest on, but beyond that ~ and more importantly at least to me ~ they were ugly.
Mixing and matching white plates for a beautiful table setting is easy. I decided to combine Pottery Barn Cambria and Pottery Barn Napoli stoneware dishes for our everyday dinnerware set with a few other white dishes tossed in. Here's my shopping tale, my review. And my tips for a pretty table. A few weeks ago, my husband came into the family room to announce that it wasn't his fault . Right away, I knew there was trouble. Apparently, while he was grabbing for mugs, not one, but two handles just spontaneously fell off. Ok... I was suspicious, but they were old.
It's March and what a month it's been! I celebrated a big birthday and so did Exquisitely Unremarkable. Five years ago, this month, I began writing in this little space , sharing some of my thoughts, humorous tales and chronicling my DIY and craft projects.
Milk glass is a beautiful collectible, but it can be pricey. You can create your own faux milk glass DIY pieces with a little bit of paint and a few thrift store finds. Several weeks ago, I shared a rather sad little tale about a couple of thrift store plates and my fruitless efforts to restore them to their original shiny state. It was love at first sight and even in their less than perfect condition, they were too exquisite to leave in the shop. I took them home, knowing that I might not be able to clean them and this might be as good as it gets, but for .99, it was a risk I was willing to take.
Last week, I was cleaning out the kitchen pantry and tucked way in the back was a set of old glass canisters. I don't remember if I bought them for myself or received them as a shower gift, but either way, I thought I had tossed them years ago. When I went through my major simplifying stage, they were among the first things to go. I had used them for display, I didn't actually keep anything eatable inside, and since I didn't love their look and they weren't particularly useful...uh, bye, bye.
White pitchers are my favorite decor accessory. They work with all styles and in all settings from cottage to modern. Whether you fill them with flowers are leave them on their own. Come see how I use them... I'm addicted to white pitchers. There's something about their shape that I find completely irresistible and if you walked into my home, that fact is very evident, as they are peppered all over the place. What's the attraction? Why exactly am I so smitten? Hmmm. I'm not sure I can really put it into words. But you know I'm going to try.
My husband's favorite pants were torn and were ready for the garbage. Unfortunately he did not agree. So I patched them...my way. I met my husband at a roller stating rink at the tender age of thirteen. No, he was not my boyfriend, not even my friend. Yet. We met because he was dating my best friend, whatever dating means when you're in seventh grade. We didn't attend the same school and since middle school relationships are notoriously short lived, our acquaintance was very brief.
My couch arm tore and I needed a quick fix. It isn't perfect, but it works. Come see the easy way to repair your own torn sofa. So hello there friends! It's been a while, hasn't it? While I absolutely adore my little home away from home, here on the web, life in the real world has been a little less than perfect lately and that has kept me unplugged. It started a few weeks ago when one of my kids was rear ended by a distracted driver at stoplight. While the car is a mess, the kid is fine. Thank goodness.
