Have an old spring wreath that is ready for the trash? Don't throw it away, just add a few new flowers and it can be as good as new! I am a sucker for a pretty spring wreath, which is funny, because I really do not like fake flowers. At all. I strongly prefer the real thing and if, for some reason, I cannot have them in my home, then my centerpieces generally feature fruit or food . Unfortunately, neither of these items lend themselves readily to long term displays, so if I want color and softness on my walls and doors, then fake flowers it is ~ although the idea of a cupcake wreath is very, very tempting!
Do you make a bucket list for summer? Do you fill it with activities, trips and lists of things you just must see and do? We used to, but now we do this instead. There's a lot of talk, now, about summer bucket lists. It's a tradition long honored in my family that started years ago with inspiration from an episode of Arthur, the cartoon aardvark featured on PBS. Each June we get out pencil and paper and dream big, including trips to the beach, zoos, parks and vacations.
Not bad for a buck, huh? Many years ago I had a tag sale and I swore that I would never, ever do it again. We had just moved into our current home and I wanted a fresh decorating start. I figured that I could use the cash for renovations.
I probably just shouldn't text anymore. It's the last week of school around here, thank goodness, and the end of the year festivities are firmly underway. Last week, as I was circling all the important dates on my calendar, I was reminded of a story that took place a few years ago in my daughter's fourth grade classroom, on the last day of school. Let's just say my behavior was not very becoming of a class mom ~ but it was funny and good for a laugh...at my expense. Again .
Looking for an easy way to decorate a teen girl's desk? Here's a quick, easy and inexpensive way to dress up a plain desk or table and personalize it, too. It's a simple project that both adds style and inspires. My love of home décor and my husband's innate DIY skills are apparently hereditary. It's either that or a childhood spent completely immersed in our crazy renovations and design projects has altered their DNA. Either way, be it nature or nurture, I have to say that my kids are very crafty. They truly enjoy beautifying their spaces and have strong opinions, especially when it comes to their rooms. Recently, my eldest decided that her desk/ vanity was boring and it needed a little sprucing up.
Turn a plain dining table into a kitchen island with this easy, inexpensive DIY trick. You don't need traditional legs or fancy tools. And you can do it in a day. I have a lovely farmhouse island in my kitchen. It is the most useful and utilized piece of furniture in my home. But it didn't start out that way.
