The Easiest Way To Turn Your Bathroom Into A Spa

Turn Your Bathroom Into A Spa In Minutes
I absolutely adore cottage style living. It's a well established fact that I'm a small house girl. I don't know why, but I've always been drawn to cozy rooms, little nooks and built-ins. I think tiny closets are charming and, believe it or not, a sprawling master bathroom has never been on my list.

Although, I will admit that when you have a bigger footprint, it does give you room to indulge a little...especially in spaces like that master bathroom.

*Pfister provided me with these fabulous shower heads, but all opinions expressed here are my very own.

You cannot squeeze a freestanding clawfoot soaker tub into a four by eight foot room, with a walk in-shower, a vintage double sink vanity, a linen armoire and a chair. There's no possible way to make any of that happen.

That's ok, there are still ways to squeeze a bit of decadence inside. And frankly, I've already done quite a bit of that.

Cottage Style Bathroom Decor Spa Feel

My bathrooms are clean, clutter free, they have great lighting, charming decor and I place flowers in them on a regular basis. Music plays when we're getting ready. I have fluffy towels, loofas, soothing soaps and pumps on my shampoos and washes...all the usual suspects when you're trying to get that luxurious feel.

But this weekend, I took it up a notch. Well, my handy husband did.

We turned both of our super tiny bathrooms into legit spas simply by swapping out the shower heads. Yup. That's all it took to go from I'm taking a shower to Wow, what a way to start (or end!) the day!

Let's face it, you can have all the calming colors you want in your bathroom, but if your shower head stinks, that paint doesn't matter. It's all about the pampering.

I've always wanted a fancy shower. There's nothing like great water pressure and drops that come at you from all angles.

But that's a perk for larger, high end houses with fancy steam showers, that have multiple built in sprayers. Right?

Turns out, that's not so. We installed Pfister's Vie Shower Head and Handheld Sprayer Combo in chrome - because I'm a big fan of shiny things - and they're amazing. Amazing.

For a minute there, I thought I was on vacation.

Hydro Drench Vie Shower Heads

Each head has 5 separate settings and what Pfister calls HydroDrench technology which means the water droplets are bigger and you get fuller coverage. And yes, you do. I had both heads going at the same time this morning and I had a very, very hard time getting out of the shower.

If my Mac were waterproof, I'd probably still be in there.

Pfister was generous enough let us try one in each bathroom and I have to say, the kids love theirs, as well. They're very taken with the dual heads and the fact that they can use the wand and its big full drops to wash the soap out of their hair, while standing under the warm spray from the stationary shower head.

And the pressure was super strong on both.

So how difficult was the transformation on a scale from one to ten? A definite one. Super simple.

They took no time at all to install. I would've captured a shot of the process for you, but by the time I grabbed my camera, my husband had declared he was done and both showers were occupied with eager testers.

Pfister Vie Shower Heads

This isn't the first time we've installed Pfister products in our home and as expected the directions were very clear. He unscrewed the old shower head and screwed the new ones on. That was all it took. He used his hands for the most part and a wrench at the end to give them a little extra snug to prevent leaks.

The shower heads are ridiculously easy to use. There's a knob on the side that lets you divert the water to either head or both at the same time, if you so choose, and both the fixed head and the hand held wand have a small lever so you adjust the settings...through HydroDrench, powerful rinse, full coverage, massage and full coverage intense massage.

So many choices.

How To Change Shower Head Functions

Like I said, spa.

And I didn't even have to leave the house.

Or my tiny bathroom.

What's your shower like?

  1. We have a rain head shower, which I don't like. It is too high. I am short, by the time the water gets to me it does feel like you are standing in a light rain. I prefer a shower that has a strong spray. The ones you installed sound great.

  2. Kim, you don't want to know what my shower is like!. I've often said that I love to take a bath and my antique, claw foot tub is perfect, be we do have a shower right off of the guest room. Talk about a tiny bathroom, I have never featured it as I can't get a good pic because it is so tiny. The real reason I don't take a shower is that I HATE to clean it and it must be done after each use. Hubby uses it and does a pretty good job of keeping it clean. I only clean it before we have guests. BUT, if I had a shower head like yours I might use it more. Your bathroom is so pretty and those shower heads look like fine jewelry for it..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

    1. Judy, I caught a peek of your tub once and it's glorious. It reminds me of my grandmother's grand bathroom. This teeny, tiny house doesn't have room for such finery, but I have to admit, these shower heads are fantastic and I don't use that word lightly. I was actually very surprised that something so simple could make such a huge difference. Now no one wants to get out of those rooms! Ha! xo

  5. That looks like the same shower head I put in my guest bath and my daughter's bath! I love having a hand held in each shower for ease of cleaning. My daughter doesn't clean her shower so I'm not sure why I wasted my money.....

    1. Oh Linda, body jets sound dreamy. I’ve always wanted them. We put in a jet tub, but with a house full of kids, baths are a luxury I rarely get to enjoy…but the shower jets…well, I could use those every day. I’m excited that this comes pretty close.

  9. WOW! What a great upgrade! We are in a rental, as you know, with a standard shower head. I can't WAIT to get into a real place of my own. I will definitely put this shower head on my list. We had a great one in our former home and I loved it.

I know how wonderful it feels to enjoy these nice showerheads, they are well worth having! How wonderful that you were blessed with two of them, now everyone is going to want to spend more time in the bathroom, lol!

  13. Love your new shower heads! Our master bathroom is small but it has a large shower and 2 shower heads...a regular one and one of those rain shower heads. i don't like the rain shower head because I don't like the water coming straight down on me like that, so it never gets used. This set up you have seems much better! Love and hugs!

  14. Love the newfound decadence; it looks great! Today officially marks the last day of my Mom's accessible bathroom reno so I've got lots of work ahead of me blogging about it :) Until we actually have time to renovate our own bathroom, I'd love to do a mini update like this!

  15. What's my shower like??? Well, it's old. We built our house about 40 yrs. ago when we were young and had very little money...and I've never had the heart to leave it since! We decided to enlarge our bedroom and decrease the size of the master bath in order to be able to do that...mistake!!! We do have room for double sinks so I guess it's not exactly tiny, but I do often long for a big luxurious bathroom:) My grandkids love our shower though because it has a little seat in it. When they visit they will stay in there until I have to force them out:) Glad you are enjoying your "spa":)

    1. Cheri, the older I get, the more I wish I had a little seat in our shower. That, combined with the new heads, would totally make up for the fact that we can't fit anymore than a tiny vanity and toilet in the room. And I love that you're still in the same house. You must have so many great memories!

  18. OoooEeeeee yes, we could so use one of these at home. I think our shower head is still the original one they installed when the house was built in the 70s, so it's really old and really "bleh" Our water pressure sucks, so when you're in the shower it usually feels like you're under a leaking roof with a slow drip. No fun at all.

    1. No. I would think not, Michelle. I am really picky about the shower head and I have to say we've always had a decent one, but this is truly next level. I hope you get more than a slow drip soon!!

  22. I live in a similar house - small with two very small bathrooms. The one thing I do not adore by any means are the small closets. ;-) I'd also love a separate dining room instead of an eat-in kitchen, but oh well! Anywho, love your new shower dual shower head. I think I'll look into getting one of those for our main bath/shower.
