Simple Chicken Crust Pizza Recipe

Chicken crusted pizza recipes are very popular right now.

There are ones with ground, canned and shredded chicken, but here's the simplest one for people who don't love to cook, but love pizza.

And a tasty way to use your leftover chicken.

If you know me well, you know that cooking is not my thing.

Oh sure, I do it and the food is good, I just don't enjoy the process.

I'd much rather spend my time thrifting, decorating, upcycling or crafting.

But like the saying goes, we gotta eat.

I cook the way I DIY.

I'm not really a process girl. I'm all about the product.

Whether I'm sharing a recipe or my latest upcycle, I guarantee, it'll be quick and easy.

My signature style.

So today I'm going to share another recipe for something that sounds fancy, but is super simple to make.

It's a Chicken Crusted Pizza.

Have you heard of this? I had not.

And I live in land of pizza. I live in New York.

We know pizza around here and we eat a lot of it. Cheese pies, white pies, margherita pies, grandma pies, pies with ziti, anchovies, veggies, salad, cold cheese and chicken all tossed on top.

Never on the bottom. At least not that'd I'd ever seen.

The first time I'd heard of it was on TikTok. Then I started seeing recipes for it all over the internet, but I paid it no mind. Until.

Until, I saw a reel of someone boasting about it, while I was staring at my leftover chicken breast wondering what I was going to do with it.

It suddenly looked very interesting. And appetizing.

We eat a lot of chicken around here:
Of course, as I said, we're talking lazy girl cooking over here, so I looked at a few recipes to see how they made that chicken crust, gathered what I had on hand and then I winged it.

All in all, I think I did ok.

Ok, so like I said before, pizza can be topped with anything you like. I'm a rather boring eater. I like bland and basic food.

Ripe Red Tomatoes On a cutting board

However, if you like hot peppers or pineapples on your pizza, have at it. You can adjust your ingredients accordingly.

You can also make your pie larger than mine. I made a tiny pizza, because I was using leftovers and that's all I had.

Besides, it was a new to me recipe and if it was icky, I didn't want to waste a lot of chicken. It's not cheap these days.

Turns out, it was delicious. I should've made a bigger pizza.

Here's what I used to make the crust and the toppings.

Shredded Cheese

For the crust:

I've seen recipes using ground or canned chicken but I much prefer using cooked chicken breast and shredding it.

For the pizza topping:

Chicken Crust Pizza Ingredients In A Bowl

To make the crust place the shredded chicken breast, the eggs and the mozzarella cheese together in a bowl.

Add the oregano.

Shape it into a ball and then flatten it out on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.

Shredded Chicken Pizza Crust

If you have a pizza stone you could use that instead.

Then bake it for about 20 minutes on 400 degrees.

When the timer goes off, remove it from the oven and layer on the sauce, the cheese, the tomatoes and any other toppings you desire.

Sauce On Chicken Pizza Crust

Pop it back into the over for another 10 minutes or so, until the cheese is melted and your veggies are soft.

That's it.

I have to say it was very good.

I sliced it up with a pizza cutter and picked it up with my hands.

Just like a real slice of pizza.

From New York.

Well. Almost.

But definitely worth a try.

Have you had chicken crusted pizza?

Bon Appetit!

  1. I've heard of this but never tried it. Sounds like a great way to cut carbs!

    1. It was really, really good Mari and yes, I suppose it is...which is great for me since bread is my weakness and I really should be cutting back!

  2. I am going to try this, Kim! I am not a big pizza fan. I never had it until I was maybe 15 or 16 years old and the way my mother made it certainly didn't give me a taste for it. This area is all about pizza, too, and the midwest has their own take on it. That being said, I went through a phase when my kids were little when I only wanted Domino's extra cheese pizza-nothing else on
I will let you know how mine turns out. I am not supposed to be eating much flour so this would actually be perfect.
    Happy weekend- xo Diana

    1. Happy weekend, Diana!! I have to say I’m kind of a pizza snob and this was very good…and…if I can make it and it’s good, you know it’s just a good recipe! Haha!! Honestly, though, I eat too much bread and this was a nice change. Let me know how you like it, if you do try it!!

  3. Looks and sounds great. A new twist for chicken. We eat a lot of chicken too, so I shall be trying this out. Happy weekend.

    1. Linda, you would really doll it up, you're such a great cook...and you'd make it look pretty on one of your festive tables to boot! If you try it let me know!

  4. OH my gosh does this look yummy. I am like you I do not like fancy or heavy spiced things. I like boring too. Let the natural flavors of the sauce and cheese do the trick. I am going to try this. I bet using roaster chicken pieces would be so rich and yummy too. Happy Weekend sweet friend. Have a great one. Hugs. Kris

    1. Kris, the roaster chicken sounds sooo good! Great idea. There are so many great chicken choices out there today, I can’t imagine using canned chicken like I see in so many of the recipes. I honestly never even knew that existed!!

  5. This trend has eluded me...until your post! I think I might try it next week. I'm not on Tik Tok, so I sometimes miss trends like this!

    1. I'd never heard of it either until I saw it on an Instagram reel shared from TikTok. I don't get over there much either...but apparently there are some good recipes. I might have to pop in more often!! Maybe...hahaha!

  6. This is definitely a new twist on pizza. I DO love a crust made from dough but I'm open to trying new things!

    1. I’m all about the dough, too, Ann, but I have to say, this was an interesting change!

  7. Hmmm... I might have to try this. We make our own pizza crust. We have a sour dough crust we love. We had that last night for our Father's Day Celebration. Grilled Pizza!! YUM.

    1. Oh wow, I've never tried a sourdough pizza crust...and grilled? Sounds fantastic! I'll have to give that one a try for sure!!

  8. I have not heard about this, but you and I share the same cooking philosophy that it's got to be simple. This is definitely something I will try! Pinning for future reference.

    1. Amy, then you're going to love this one. SO simple and really tasty. I hope you'll let me know how you like it!

  9. I never heard of this but I'm sure going to give it a try! I make my shredded chicken breast in the pressure cooker and it is done in no time... I shred it with a hand mixer. I make it every week! This is a new way to use it and can't wait to try! :)

    1. Sounds like I may need to get myself a pressure cooker!!

  10. Kim, I remember seeing this all over Instagram. I've have not tried this yet. It sounds good and I like that you can put whatever toppings you like. I have had cauliflower crusted pizza that is very good. I love all of these low carb options to make pizza.

    1. Julie, you and your daughter are always making such great meals, I bet this one would be super simple for you guys and you could really doll it up! My kids are addicted to the cauliflower crusted pizza now, it is good! Although, I admit they get it at Costco...we don't make that one! Haha!

  11. HI Kim Sharing on the Weekend Edit. A tennis friend of mine talked about this same recipe she used the canned chicken as the crust, but I like this recipe! sorry to have missed the last two Creator zooms! Busy real estate summer! xo laura

    1. Thanks so much, Laura!! I love being shared and this recipe is delicious. I'm shocked by how much I really like it and yes, no canned chicken for me. Honestly, I didn't even know that was a thing!!

  12. Kim,
Chicken crusted pizza....Who knew??? I laughed when I read that you live "in the land of pizza"!You have never been to NEPA where there is a pizza place on almost every corner and a town named Old Forge that has proclaimed itself to be the "Pizza Capital of the World".....
There are so many different styles and types of pizza in this area, it is not funny....And a huge variety of Mom and Pop places ...more so than the national chains who still survive quite nicely in the midst of the local ones....
    Thanks for sharing!!!

    1. So funny, Deb! I’ve never been to NEPA, but it certainly sounds like there’s a lot of pizza places. Here in NY the big chains barely exist. It’s all mom and pops, tons of them, serving classic, big New York style pizza pies. I have to admit, I’m kind of a pizza snob, so when I heard chicken crusted pizza, I was like, what is this nonsense? But honestly, it’s really, really good. And if I do ever get to NEPA I’ll be sure to check out the pizza. It sounds like I won’t have a hard time trying to find a place to eat!!

  13. No Kim, I have not had this, or heard of it!! I like the idea because I’m a girl that watches her carbs, even though I bake a lot. I really am careful with carb watching. Thanks for introducing me to something new and delicious!

    1. Thanks for taking a peek, Kitty. You are such an amazing cook, I'm sure you could really make something special out of this pizza with some unique toppings!! If you try it, you'll have to let me know if you like it!!
