Don't you love opening the mailbox and finding a super fun surprise inside?
Doesn't that just make your day?
Well, this week, the weather was bad. Lots of gray and rainy days.
Then one afternoon there was a knock at my door and, standing on the front stoop was my mailman, holding a package with my name on it.
Inside was a gift, a little bit of sunshine from my good friend KariAnne Wood of Thistlewood Farms.
An early copy of her newest book, 10-Minute Decorating Ideas.
And it was darling.
Of course, I couldn't wait to read it and be inspired, so I grabbed my hot water and cracked it open.
Inside there were over 100 pages filled with quick and easy decorating ideas for each and every season.
From framing wall maps, decorating with nests in spring, how to display towels so they look pretty and placing bottle brush Christmas trees in vintage doorknobs - yes you heard me, doorknobs - her book guides the reader though the year with unique style.
Simple DIYs.
And stunning photos.
The book makes such a great little gift, too.
It's perfect for showers, housewarming parties, hostess gifts and fits right inside a Christmas stocking. Just darling.
However for me, it's going to be my new go to present for all the twenty-somethings in my life who are suddenly moving up, out and into their own apartments or homes.
They may have the basics of decor covered, the big furniture pieces, but they're still finding their style.
Wondering what to put on the walls, how to cozy up their new spaces.
And trying to do it on a budget and in their spare time.
Like pretty towels and sweet baskets, from tips on page 67.
Or those mini Christmas trees, like the ones on page 125, to decorate or display.
Battery operated taper candles or battery operated pillars to light up their rooms. It's another great idea tucked inside the book on page 41(and one of my favorites, as well).
Or vintage styled shelves and plate hangers to display decorative dishes, as suggested on page 39.
So many possibilities.
Now the book itself doesn't go on sale until September 5th, but you can preorder a copy today, right here and it'll get shipped out to you on its release date.
Or you can enter my giveaway for a chance to win a copy and a $50 Amazon gift card for yourself. You know, to pick up something to make your favorite page come to life.
The giveaway has ended.
Now if you'll pardon me, I'm going back to my book.
I'm quite smitten with those old doorknobs.
And I have 10 minutes to spare.
😉
Happy Decorating, Friends!
What a great gift idea.

ReplyDeleteIsn’t she talented? And super sweet I might add. I’m sorry to hear about that tooth, that’s no fun at all! I hope you’re able to enjoy some of the long weekend out and about. Maybe in a big hat and sunglasses. You’re so glamorous no one will even notice the swelling!
DeleteOooh - this looks like my kind of book. I've entered, but I'm thinking this would be a great gift for my girls too. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the exact same thing, Mari!! I also just went to a send off party for another young lady who just moved into her own place...might have to send her a copy! Happy Weekend!!
DeleteI love decorating books and this one looks like it would be so much fun!!! Thanks for the opportunity to win. I need to catch up on my blog reading...it's been a difficult few months and I have lost my mojo to do much of anything!!! Maybe if I win the book it will motivate me:) I always love all your DIYs...wish I were that talented. I did just spray paint a wicker rocker my husband bought me at an auction for $5!!!! And it's in really good shape. I adore wicker. Hope all is well in your world.
ReplyDeleteWow!! A rocker for $5?? That's amazing and I'm sure your makeover is beautiful. I love DIYs like that. Thank you for the kind words and I'm sorry it's been a difficult year. I do hope that the sun shines for you in the coming months and you get your mojo back. Sounds like that rocker may be the beginning of some lovely makeovers! Good luck!!

DeleteHow fun Kim, such a nice surprise. KariAnne is super talented. I wish her great success with her new book. It is always fun to read new decorating books.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating books, too! I still have some from the early 90s that I look at all the time. I think classic style is always in style and every time I peek inside them I find fresh inspiration. It’s also funny to see what’s back in style again! That part makes me feel old. Haha!!
DeleteSurprises... the good kind... you bet. :-) Happy Weekend to you my friend.
ReplyDeleteLove, Carla

DeleteOh, how I would love to win a copy of this book! (And the Amazon gift card, too!) KariAnne is so sweet. I met her in person about 12 years ago when she was here in the Chicago area. There was a small IL blogger get-together put on by Jennifer Rizzo. Have a great weekend!
