Mother's Day is a time to celebrate all the moms in your life with a little DIY gift. And maybe yourself a bit, too. Especially if you have big news! This year All Free Holiday Crafts has included my book page magazine hanger on their list of Top 10 Mother's Day Crafts! I'm so excited!
It's easy to replace a broken kitchen sink soap dispenser. It's less expensive than buying a whole new faucet fixture and takes mere minutes to do. You might even be able to get the replacement parts for free! Here are the super simple step by step instructions. A couple of days ago, I mentioned to a friend that the soap dispenser on my kitchen faucet was broken and I needed to swap it out. She was surprised that I was so calm about it. You see, she thought I was going to have to get a brand new faucet ~ big money, lots of work.
Lately, I find myself starting conversations with the phrase, "So I was thinking about you in the shower today." It's odd right...and probably not a great way to start a conversation with your best girlfriend, your dentist or child's guidance counselor, is it?
I have two older sisters. When I was born, they were in junior high and growing up, I completely idolized them. They were beautiful and popular. They had great clothes, listened to fun music, and once married, had fabulous homes. It makes sense that when they gave me advice, I listened. For example, during my engagement when they told me not to register for china, I didn't.
Typically, in April I dress my home to welcome showers with a really cute tulip stuffed rubber boot . With May on the horizon however, I'm ready to ditch any thoughts of rain and snow and move on to flowers. Unfortunately, my yard hasn't started to bloom yet, so I am adding them to my front door with a sweet garden flag. A little bit of alteration, turned it into a fabulous door hanger.
I removed water stains from my wood tables with a hot iron. Really. With a little bit of care the heat removed the stains in just a few seconds. I've mentioned before that I'm kind of a selective perfectionist when it comes to decor. Uneven seams on my hand sewn curtains or painting without priming? Eh. No big deal. Wrinkles on my bed or crooked pictures on the wall? Big deal. So you can imagine how I felt about a having water stains on my wood furniture. For years they were a huge deal ~ a real thorn in my side.
I always make my bed. It's not something that I did as a child or even in my early teens, but once my mom let me redecorate my own room , it became a habit and it stuck. Now, I know that there are very valid reasons why people will tell you to make your bed every day. Some say it's the path to success, but my own personal motivation has nothing to do with personal achievement.
Lies and Other Acts of Love is Kristy Woodson Harvey's newest novel. Have you read it? Kristy generously provided me with a copy of her book. Last summer my sweet friend Kristy Woodson Harvey sent me an email and asked if I would like to review her first novel. I hadn't read a book in so long, that I jumped at the chance. After all, I would have to make the time if it was for work , right? Well, I fell in love with her storytelling . I was hooked from day one.
Over the past three years, I have shared a lot of pretty here at Exquisitely Unremarkable. Well, at least I've shared what I consider pretty. I have decorated with cake stands, curtains, flowers and throws. I have made banners to add seasonal sparkle and put up lights at Christmastime in an effort to feather my nest and make it look fabulous. Oh ~ but there was a time when things weren't so pretty around here.
