Mooned At The Grocery Store

I was mooned at the grocery store. It was not funny. Ok, it was.

The unapologetic offender

I am not a fan of grocery shopping. Honestly, nothing about it appeals to me.  Perhaps it goes back to my lack of cooking prowess...maybe it's because I'm not a big eater.  Either way, I guess the reason really isn't important, it's a mundane task I do not enjoy.  I am truly on autopilot once I pull into the parking lot - get a cart, hit the aisles in rote fashion, grab basically the same items week after week, wait on line, make small talk with the cashier, pack up, pay, and leave.

No fun at all, at least not for me.

However, on one very sunny afternoon, I saw the moon and that all changed.

The tulips are stationed right inside the front entrance of the market, so after I pick up a colorful, happy bunch the trip becomes pretty uninspiring, you know, cardboard boxes and frozen stuff, so I was completely unprepared for what I saw.

I walked into the produce aisle, bag in hand, ready to grab a tomato, to whip up my world famous chicken pizziola, when there it was, looking right at me.

I swear someone put it there on top for people to see and I was the winning shopper- ding-ding-ding!

I stood there for a minute looking around, did no one else see this?  Just me?

There was nothing to do but laugh...a lot...and take a picture of course.  I'm sure I looked like a lunatic.

I have to be honest, I fell in love with that little guy right there. I wanted to take him home with me so I could keep looking at him and feeling good, well at least until he rotted. It had been an awful, humorless, just plain sad year and laughing felt so good, I didn't want it to end.

But I left him there.

I wanted to pay that belly laugh forward.

Perched atop that orange mountain, I figured he would be serving the greater good, proudly embracing his role as both the literal butt of the joke and the subject of an exquisitely unremarkable moment.

I later found this potato at home in my fridge.

But she wasn't nearly as personable.

😉

Looking for some more smiles?

  1. Awesome! I laughed right out loud at my desk when I saw the pic. I feel the same as you about the weekly grocery ritual (my least favorite domestic task) but seeing that would totally make the trip better. Love it! :)
