Falling Into Fall ~ A Decor Tour

September 15, 2015

It's time to dress your house for fall.

No need to shop or spend a ton of money.

Here are a few simple and inexpensive ways to welcome this season without breaking the bank.

Fall Roses and Pumpin Arrangement

About a week ago, I proclaimed my love for summer and all the hazy, hot and humid it had to offer.

I was not ready for fall, I was not going to decorate until the end of September or acknowledge its impending presence until the calendar forced me into it.

Nothing and no one was going to change my mind.
I'm pretty stubborn like that.

Well, yesterday morning when I woke up and opened the back door, I was greeted by a cool blast of crisp autumn air.

And just like that, I was done with summer.

I may be stubborn, but I'm not very loyal, am I?

I'm all fall now.

Where are my sweaters? Can I get away with a scarf today?

I wonder if the nursery has my favorite little white pumpkins yet?

Small white pumpkins Baby Boos in a white bowl

Turns out, they didn't, but that's ok. I have enough pretties from past years hanging around to "fall up" the place.

Besides, the older I get, the less I seem to decorate for the seasons. I want my home to have that festive, dressed look, but I don't want to spend a lot of time or money doing it.

I'd really rather enjoy the season.

I try to use items that I already have around the house and then add just a few season specific accents.

If possible, I prefer perishables, like those little baby boos. No storage issues to worry about when the season is over and nothing perks up a room like fresh flowers or produce.

At this point, fall is still sequestered to the living room. Once its actual birthday comes around, it will make its way into the rest of the house.

Shall we take the tour?

Red and White Rustic Living Room

Since I couldn't find any pumpkins in my neck of the woods, I chose roses for my live element, red, of course, and added a few of my faux pumpkins to the room.

Rooster pillows in the living room

Next, I made these cute stenciled pillows.

Their colors are just perfect for the season.

Plus, they are a fabulous way to cozy up the room, especially when you are hugging one, curled up in front of the fireplace with a cup of something hot in your hands.

Fall Fireplace with red tin screen over the opening

I have a secret though...I hate fireplaces when they are not lit.

I am always looking for creative ways to cover up that black cavern in the off seasons. This summer I found that red tin piece for five bucks at a yard sale.

I knew immediately it would be perfect and I was right.

Fall Mantel with wooden harvest letters

With so much color at the hearth, I decided to keep the mantel simple and neutral.

Cottage Style French Door in a living room

My front door is still in need of something fabulous to welcome guests, but the interior door is adorned with my puzzle piece pumpkin

I changed the saying this year.

Puzzle piece pumpkin frame with Fall into fall words

Fall into fall, huh?

Looks like I have...

Fall Decor in the living room

...and, if you don't mind, now I am going to fall into my pillow stuffed couch and check out some more seasonal inspiration from some very creative ladies.

You see, Brenda from Cozy Little House is hosting a Fall Home Tour and it starts today.

She was kind enough to include me, so it looks like that tricky Mother Nature was right on time with her cool kiss.

I'm thinking Brenda may have some pull! ;)

Perhaps you popped on over from Thoughts from Alice's lovely tour, if not here's the schedule so you can get inspired, too.

Enjoy and Happy (almost) fall!!

I just found your blog after touring the Fall homes starting with Cozy Little House. I love you style! It's simple and beautiful. I don't like blogs where people have just "spent money" decorating. It is much more of a challenge to use what you have, shop for sales and put together what you can.
