Weddings and Painting and Fire, Oh My!

It's the first official weekend of summer and I, for one, am very excited.

The weather has been lovely the past few days and I'm hoping for a sunny weekend, as well.

And warm. Warm would be nice, so I could get myself into the water for a little exercise.

Somehow when I'm in the pool or at the beach, everything's more fun.

Food, Fashion and Fun Finds Friday

Don't you agree?

Well, today I have a little more to share with you, than my avoidance of exercise from September to May.

It's a Food, Fashion, Fun Find Friday and I have several very fun, very eclectic finds to share.

Are you ready?

First up is an absolutely beautiful wedding planner from my friend Alda Ellis. Because what's more fun than a wedding?

Our Wedding Planner Alda Ellis on a table with apples

As the owner of Alda's Magnolia Hill, an historic estate and wedding venue, to that say she's a wedding expert would be an understatement. So when she asked me if I'd like to take a peek inside, I jumped at the chance.

And as a book junkie with a penchant for planning and dreaming, I wasn't disappointed.

Our Wedding Planner is filled with fabulous inspiration from cover to cover.

Wedding Planner Inspiration page of book

There are detailed checklists and notes pages to help a couple map out every detail of their wedding from finding their style and ideal venue to planning the guest list and budgeting.

Planning A Wedding Guest List Page of book

There's even a Final Thoughts chapter that addresses the honeymoon, thank you notes and administrative tasks, like name changes.

Best Wedding Planner book open on table

The pages are filled with outstanding photos, the paper is thick and the perfect texture for running your pen across...making it a lovely gift for any newly engaged couple.

You can peek at it here if you like.

Fun find number two was sent to me from another blogging friend. These ladies are all so creative.

Amy from Chateau Chic DIY has created a new line of paint in amazing, awe inspiring bright colors, and again, I was able to get my hot little hands on them for a preview.

Pop Of Color Paint box

As soon as the box showed up at my door, I knew I was in for some fun. I mean, come on!

When I opened it up there were ten paint pots plus two small canvases and I couldn't wait to dig in.

Pop Of Color Paint Samples

I had to open the jade green immediately, since I already have a project in mind using that color.
The paint can be used on furniture and other fun DIYs.

As soon as I dipped my brush into the container, I knew it was good...thick, creamy and such great coverage.

Most importantly, it dried to a deep, even color. like I said, amazing.

Pop Of Color Green Paint

You can follow Pop Of Color on Instagram and you can peek at the Pop Star Kit right here.

How cool is that name??

That leads us to my Fun Find number three. Which is far from cool.

It's actually quite hot and I mean that in a very literal kind of way since it's a fire pit.

Hot, hot, hot.

I've wanted one since we moved in. I mean it stands to reason. I've been sharing my love of fireplaces inside for years. It's only natural that I'd want one outside, right?

Unfortunately, my lungs don't play nicely with smoke. And for a long time, the only really affordable gas fire pits were quite large.

And that was never an option for this cottage dwelling girl.

Small Space Gas Fire Pit in garden

However, last weekend, I was digging around the internet and found this fabulous gas fire pit

And to quote Goldilocks, it was just right.

Round, which works well on my curved patio and small - only 25" in diameter - and super affordable. Perfect.

Now, we when the sun goes down, we can spend our nights outside by the light of the fire.

Keeps us warm, when necessary, adds ambiance to our yard and keeps those nasty beach gnats away.

And I don't have to deal with any smoke or wait for any embers to go out before I can leave it unattended.

I just hit the switch and I'm good to go.

Fabulous.

So where's the food and fashion?

Well, I didn't cook anything fun this week, but I found this amazing recipe that's perfect for summer weekends.

And I bought this fun summer dress in -wait for it - every single color. I kid you not.

It's light, comfy and when I saw the price I knew I could afford every color and still have money leftover for that fire pit.

And what's more fun than a bargain?

Happy Friday!!

Thank you to Pop Of Color and Alda Ellis for sending me your lovely, lovely creations!

*******

Oh before you go, I wanted to say thank you and share a fun find I found in my mailbox this week from a giveaway I won on my friend Ricki Jill's blog.

Isn't it lovely? Those ladies from Tales Of The Traveling Tote are always up to something fun.

  1. Love this Kim! How fun is your gas firepit? With Peanut being we aren't getting one. It wouldn't be fair to her.

It's confusing enough with flower pots for our girl.

I adored that wedding planner when I saw Leslie share it. Having no kids I didn't buy one. It's beautiful.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. I can see how that would be terribly confusing for poor Peanut. And yes, isn't the planner beautiful? It's a far cry from the yellow legal pads I "planned" my wedding out on!! Enjoy the weekend!

  13. So many great things, Kim! If I'm honest, I'm not a great fan of summer. Ours is already too hot and humid and it will go on forever. But it does bring a lot of fun, light, colorful things with it. And how nice to wear something like your t-shirt dress.

    1. I can only imagine the heat, Amalia. It’s such a fleeting thing here I guess that’s why I’m so enamored. I also think I have such lovely memories from my childhood during the summer, I’ve romanticized the season…in my $7 Walmart dresses!! Hahaha!!

  16. Kim,
Love the fire pit but Joe is nuts over anything even remotely possibly burning the house down. Our gas grill almost did once and that is why I still do not have one all these years later...Thanks so much for stopping by!! We do love Ocean State Job Lot!! I hope you are having a nice weekend!!

    1. I totally get his apprehension. I'm very wary of fire, too, Debbie. We only have battery operated candles in the house for that reason. My sister had a fire from a votive on Christmas Eve one year and that was all it took for me. I hope you're staying cool!! Hugs to you my friend!!

  18. Lots of wonderful fun finds indeed! My son bought me a gas fire pit for Christmas, and we have loved using it so much! It adds such a special ambience to the evening! The Color Pop paint sounds wonderful, what fun to receive such fun packages in the mail! It has gotten extremely hot here. We are not used to this 100+ heat in June. Hope you have a wonderful week enjoying all the fun finds from last week :)

    1. It's hot here this week, too, Marilyn. Wowza, that happened out of nowhere! We were still able to use the pit to keep the bugs away though! They seem to multiply when it gets hot. Not my favorite!! I hope you're enjoying the week!!
