Looking for some quick, easy and inexpensive ideas to celebrate July 4th?

Well I have some fabulous last minute fashion crafts, decor DIYs and simple recipes.

Check them out!

Star Cut Out Blueberry Pie on a baking sheet

Hello July!!

You beautiful month, you.

It's starting out as a hot one. Just the way I like it.

And a rainy one. Which I don't like as much.

Two days in and we've already had a few crazy downpours, thunder and lightning, power outages and fallen trees.

Apparently Mother Nature has decided to start the fireworks show early this holiday weekend.

Although, I hope she pauses these tantrums long enough so we can see the real fireworks display. Each year we sit on the beach, in the back of the pick up, ice cream in hand and watch the sky explode in color over the harbor.

It's something we've been doing since we moved into our little beach cottage neighborhood 26 years ago. It's a tradition that I've grown to love.

Other than that we'll be chilling at home, entertaining a couple of family and friends in the backyard, between raindrops.

No big celebrations, just an intimate gathering or two and a few pops of red, white and blue.

Perhaps you're doing the same and you're looking for some quick and easy patriotic touches.

Well then, today's your lucky day, because I dug into the archives for Friday's Fun Finds.

They're older posts, full of last minute ideas, including food, fashion and fun decor for a fabulous July 4th.

Enjoy!

Of course, every July 4th celebration needs a flag and while we have them peppered around the yard, a few years ago, I added one to a DIY apron.

It was a great way to get into that party spirit without spending a lot on an outfit.

If, however, you're not an apron wearer, like me, you could use the same technique to add old glory to a tee shirt pocket or shorts.

I may actually do this today.

Looking to dress your house instead? No worries, I've got an easy craft for that, too.

July 4th Wreath

My red, white and blue ribbon wreath can have your front door ready to welcome guests in a jiffy. Just wrap the colors around a frame, glue it down and add a bow.

Festive, fabulous and free if you're a craft hoarder, again, like me, and have the supplies on hand.

Want a wreath with a little more staying power, but still pays homage to the holiday? Then why not whip up a red (or white or blue) hydrangea wreath.

Stick a tiny flag in it for the weekend and then remove it on the 5th and you're set for summer.

I love crafts that pull double duty.

And of course, every party needs a banner.

I can't believe I don't have one specifically made for the 4th, but you could easily take my sweet doily banner and modify it.

White doily packages and twine

For about $2.00 (you can grab colored doily packs at the dollar store), you'll be in business.

Just add a few red and blue doilies in between the white ones and you're set. You could even swap the table doilies out as well, but set among crimson plates, it's really not necessary.

Especially if you add a cute candy cracker to each place setting.

Or you upcycle and customize your mason jars and pepper them about the table.

You can create your own design or pick up pre-made stickers for a bit of flair.

Or pop some garden blooms in them.

See. Easy!

With the table set, it's time to think about the food.

And you just know that will be simple.

Traditional fare is on the menu, hot dogs and hamburgers with the all the toppings. Strawberries and cream provide an ode to the red and white.

With frozen blueberry water.

And my world famous (ok, maybe that's a stretch- but it's so good!) 5 minute blueberry pie bringing on the blue.

In the most delicious way.

A simple, easy and festive holiday plan.

    1. Thanks much, Cara!! That red hydrangea wreath is still one of my favorites. I had it on my kitchen hood for years. I recently moved it to the living room, but I think it might make its way back to the kitchen one day!!
