Happy Valentine's Day Friends!

I hope you're having a lovely one.

We don't usually do much to celebrate, but today I got the absolute best gift.

I just returned from the airport where I picked up my girls from a business trip. They'd been gone for almost two weeks.

And boy oh boy, was it quiet around here. Too quiet.

I'm much happier with a full house

Of course, a little less hustle and bustle is nice every now and then...and I wish I could tell you that we had a completely relaxing week. Unfortunately, we hit a snag...but that's a story for another day.

For now, I'd like to share a quick and easy Valentine treat

Red, White and Pink Chocolate Dipped Oreos

Yum.

Every Christmas we dip Oreos in chocolate and decorate them. We've been doing it since the kids were tiny, which makes it a twenty year old tradition.

They're so good, they disappear in a day.

And frankly, too good, to eat only once a year.

So, for Valentine's Day, my daughter decided start a new tradition, a red and pink one, and I got to help.

We used our handy dandy chocolate melter, however since we were melting several colors at the same time, we did melt some of them in the microwave, as well.

Note to self, buy another chocolate melter.

The recipe, if you can call it that, is pretty self explanatory.

And it all starts with Oreos. One of our favorite cookies.

We've baked them into cupcakes, thrown them into smoothies and made milk chocolate bark with them.

Ingredients:

  • Oreos
  • Valentine Themed Sprinkles/ Sugars
  • Chocolate Melts in pink, red, white

Step 1:

Melt the chocolate.

Like I said, you can use a melter, like I have, or a double boiler, but I'm not a fan.

You can also pop them into the microwave.

The directions are on the bag and they usually recommend using the defrost setting so you don't burn the melts.

Step 2:

Dip the cookies in the chocolate.

You can cover a whole cookie with one color of chocolate.

Dip only half.

White Chocolate Chip Oreos

Or you can get very fancy and dip two halves each in a different color.

I use a spoon for dipping in the measuring cups, but for the melter I use the dipping tools or the dipping scoop.

Step 3:

Decorate the cookies.

This time around we used heart shaped sprinkles and pink and red sugar crystals.

In the past, we've drizzled a coordinating color of chocolate over the cookies. There aren't any rules, the whole point is to enjoy the process.

Step 4:

Cool the cookies.

Place them on a parchment or wax paper covered cookie sheet and place them in the fridge until cool.

Step 5:

Eat.

Yeah. That one happened before I got a chance to take that all important pretty picture.

Or taste one for myself.

Oh well, just goes to show you how delicious they are.

How much everyone loves them.

And how you quick you have to be when you have a full house.

Which is the sweetest gift of all.

  1. They are so cute! I think this is one I'll try to do with my girls. Could do white chocolate with red and blue sprinkled for the 4th of July. :)

    1. They're a lot of fun to make a Christmastime, Gina. Much easier than rolling out and cutting out sugar dough!

  3. These are wonderful plus you can customize them for different holidays. I love using the molds that hold oreos. A tip is adding a little vegetable oil to the candy melts for a smooth coating. It also adds some shine.
