A Blue and Pink Christmas Bedroom

Ah...October.

It's that wonderful time of year when all the holidays seems to collide.

Whether you're scrolling social media or walking into a store, like I did this past weekend, you'll find yourself face to face with Jack-O-Lanterns, turkeys, Santa Clauses and Christmas trees.

Side by side as if they were all celebrated on the same day.

Baby Blue and Pink Christmas Decor

I know a lot of people love this holiday hoopla, so they can map out their decorations early.

I myself am usually more of a live in the moment kind of decorator, preparing for each one in its own time.

However, when it comes to home decor, my mantra has always been do what makes you happy.

And this weekend - in something that's becoming a bit of a habit - that’s exactly what I did...which means my home looks like those stores.

Trick or Treat and Ho-Ho-Ho cohabitating in a seasonal time warp.

And it's all because of this box.

King Of Christmas Tree Box
This post contains gifted product from King Of Christmas. All opinions are my very own.

The one that arrived with this tree from King Of Christmas a few weeks ago, and had been sitting in my living room. Taunting me.

I tried to ignore its pull, keep it packed up until the day after Thanksgiving, but you see, at the very same time UPS rang my bell, I also happened to be updating my daughter's bedroom.

Her blue bedroom, the one room that clearly stood out from the rest of the house, decorated with bold reds and soft greens.

The room I'd been trying to transform since the day she moved out. With no luck whatsoever.

I just couldn't find my groove.

Blue and White Floral Bedroom

Until. About two weeks ago, I finally found the pieces I was looking for and the entire room came together. It was so darling, I thought, wow, imagine how magical this room would look decorated for Christmas.

I’d never put a tree in there before. That tiny space was lived in, and I mean really lived in, but now, as an extra room there was nothing stopping me.

And I tore that box open.

My husband was all "You want to do what? Just so you can see? For real? That's a huge job."

Of course, I knew better. I already had one of these King of Christmas trees. A flocked one that I shared a few years go.

They go up quick and everything we needed was in the box.

From the instructions.

To the stand.

There were no wires to connect for the lights, the pins in the pole took care of that. So we just popped the parts of the tree labeled A, B, C into each other and into the stand...and voila.

We were ready for fluffing.

Also quick and painless since the box even included gloves to protect my hands from being pinched or scratched.

The entire process took about 15 minutes start to finish.

To get fabulous, sparkly results.

Since he's a gadget guy, my husband did stick around a few minutes more to check out all the neat light settings and the timer function which could be activated by the foot control.

Or by the remote.

But then he was on his way, which left me to play...and boy did I ever.

I started by digging out the pink and purple ornament set I shared in July and put them on the tree.

Then I added a few baby blue ones I had in my stash.

I even emptied my vase to place flowers between the branches, like I did on my mantel garland last year.

I believe this is the point where I may have gotten a little carried away by all the sparkle and went into full blown - we need a little Christmas now - mode.

You see, I had to take a break, to go to the aforementioned craft store, for some fall supplies, and once there, I spotted a few pink and blue nutcracker accents that I couldn't resist.

They were on sale, I had a coupon, so I bought them all and went home to continue playing dollhouse decorator.

I know it was an unseasonably warm October afternoon.

I understood that Christmas was months away, but I have to say that it was the most fun I've had on a decorating project in this old house in a long, long time.

It was day filled with pure enjoyment, I leaned into a process I adore and experimented with colors I don't often use.

And the result was positively dreamy. The room was light, bright, pastel and airy.

That blue room finally looked as if it truly belonged in my country cottage by the sea.

It felt magical during the day.

And even more so as the sun began to set.

Blue Christmas Decor Ideas

It's made every one of us smile whenever we walk by and catch a glimpse of that evergreen and those twinkling lights.

And made my daughter want to move back home.

So for a few more precious days I'll leave Christmas in that lovely, lovely room.

Despite the fact that fall is lurking in every other space around here.

But, if you close the door to sit by the tree, you'd never know.

And I won't tell if you won't.

😉🎄👻

How early do you plan your holiday decor?

Merry October, Friends!

  3. Soooo pretty Kim. I would leave it up. I love the sparkle of Christmas. I usually put my tree and decor up before Thanksgiving and can enjoy the pretty lights a lot longer. The holidays come and go so quickly. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs. Kris

  9. Wow Kim, you decorated that room so pretty with the pastel colors. I love the gorgeous tree and ornaments. I would leave that tree up for the holidays! Have fun decorating the rest of the house. I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year so I'll be doing Christmas decorations during the beginning of December.

    1. Thanks Julie! It was so fun to play in this room. Usually when I’m decorating, I have to think about how the decor will function and I have to make concessions. This was just for fun and I really enjoyed it. I really thought everyone would say to take it down, it’s too early, but maybe I should leave it!

  10. Ooh this is so pretty and I am planning right now, though only in my creative head...I do want to put the skinny tree up this year in my room, but I am thinking of ways to fluff it out more. I'm ready to get started!

    1. Thanks Gina! This was fun, since I’ve never had one in a bedroom before. I think you should definitely put one in your room. There are so many pretty picks out there, and you’re so creative. I’m sure you’ll find a way to give it some festive fluff!

  11. Even though I'm in no way thinking of Christmas yet (I'm still fall decorating, lol), this tree is absolutely gorgeous, especially in this bedroom! I'm confused though - you said you'd enjoy it for a few more days. Please don't tell me you're going to take it down...and then put it all back up again in just 6 weeks or so! (Way too much work! I'd just enjoy it a little early since it's so pretty.)

    1. Thanks Melanie! Well, so far it's still up...I really do enjoy all things fall, so I thought I'd take it down and let it autumn decor have its moment. I have to say, it really wasn't a lot of work to put it ub, but it's just too pretty to put it all back in the box.

  12. That is the most darling Christmas tree I think I've ever seen! Amazing, and I love the color choices for the room too. The soft blues just pull my heart with you - to the sea! Perfect for your extra room/guest room. :)

  13. Oh my this conjures up sugarplums, adorable, darling, sweet. I’m so glad you continued the blue and pink theme with the little house and extras. I don’t put up Christmas until after Thanksgiving BUT I always wanted a Christmas vacation cabin the woods that I could “play” in, decorate all up for the holiday and leave it until we returned the next year 🙂 . You should leave this up! you won’t have time to replicate it again once the season fills up and at the very least you won’t have time to enjoy like you did this time. It’s fun to work outside of our color comfort and you really made that blue room sing…dare I say “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🎶”?

    1. Thanks so much!! I don't usually put up Christmas until after Thanksgiving - or actually, lately, on Thanksgiving, but I couldn't resist and I'm glad I decorated. It was fun to just play and I highly recommend it. Your Christmas cottage idea sounds dreamy. What a magical place that would be to visit!!

  17. Good for you for just going for it! I was talking to a friend the other day who decorates her house extensively like I do. She has already started. She hasn’t put ornaments on the trees, but because she decorates every room, and because she likes to be able to relax and enjoy everything at Christmas, she starts in October. Honestly, that’s not a bad idea. This room is just precious.

    1. Thank you so much, Judy! This one was purely for play, but I am so excited by the way it turned out. I'm also so happy that I did it, because I really struggled with the theme of that room for far too long and that tree just gave me the focal point I needed...I hope your planning goes well. Your cottage always looks fabulous, so I have no doubt that it will!! xo
