How To Make A Small Electric Fireplace Look Cute

I was decorating that way while the rest of the world was painting their walls greige. Removing pattern, adding white sofas and banishing lace to the back of the closet.

But as I said, now another generation has discovered this "brand new" trend, which is why when my beloved fabric store recently went out of business, and marked everything down by 50%, the lace fabric was going like hotcakes.

Luckily, I was able to grab several yards of this delicate pattern to use around the house.

My first share is a quick and easy one using a piece of it that started as a lace curtain fail for my new front door.When I popped the valance on the window, it was too skimpy. No privacy at all. Whomp whomp.

However, before I went back to the curtain drawing board, I decided to use that small piece of fabric to dress my kitchen fireplace door for summer.

I've done it before, with a scrap of red toile to cover up that dark, empty space where a warm, winter fire glows from October to April.

Granted, it comes from a light bulb, but we'll just keep that between us. 🤫

This time, I wanted something lighter and that scrap of lace was perfect. After all, nothing says summer like lace.

To start, I grabbed my velcro.

This Velcro

The same velcro I use to cover my glass cabinets doors with fabric.

The one I used to cover my Ikea desk doors.

To create a kitchen sink skirt.

And update my bathroom vanity.

Only this time, I didn't need both pieces of the sticky velcro...just the hook side. I stuck it to the inside of the fireplace door above and below the glass.

Then I gathered the lace and pressed it onto the hooks. The tiny holes in the fabric grabbed the hooks.


To finish the job, I took my scissors and trimmed the fabric as close to the velcro tape as possible, so the door would close properly.


And look neat when it was open.


Easy peasy. A mere 15 minutes to fabulous.

And my super sentimental fireplace, the one that belonged to my mom, looks more charming than ever.


Totally adorable.


All summer long.

And totally on trend.
