Cozy Cottage Thrift Store Decor Finds

Well, January is barely underway and I've already been to the thrift store.

Twice.

I just can't help myself.

And honestly, is anybody really surprised?

Lets Go Thrift Shopping

Once the tree comes down and the house can breathe again, I enjoy all that open space...for about 3 days.

Then my instinct to fill it up again kicks in.

And I don't think I'm alone.

I've already seen many of you doing the same thing. Updating, shopping, rearranging and dreaming.

Even the thrift store was packed.

Lots of shoppers, taking advantage of clearance sales, finding treasure and smiles among the piles.

Here's what what I found on my latest thrifting trips.

First up, I found this set of gold picture frames.

Boxed Up Burnes of Boston Thrifted Hanging Frame Pair

Tethered together, brand new and in a box for $3.00.

There are so many possibilities with this duo, including painting or separating them, but honestly they're in such good shape,  I'll probably simply add some custom artwork and call it a day.

Next, I found this wooden candle holder...complete with candles, also for $3.00.

It always cracks me up how people burn candles with the plastic on them. Hello. Fire hazard - but I digress.

I was all ready to walk out with it, when a gentleman, and his cute dog, asked me why I wanted to break up the band?

At first I was perplexed by his comment, but then I realized my wooden bridge style votive holder was also part of a pair.

Well, for three bucks more, I couldn't leave the other behind - which made my new friend grin. He told us it made him happy that they didn't have to get a divorce. That made me chuckle.

I think this vase ranks as my favorite find of the month, so far. It was $2.00 and it's HUGE.

Very substantial.

I actually couldn't believe the price tag, so I grabbed it immediately and gave it to the lady at the counter to hold.

You see, I've had a DIY project in mind for a while, but it requires a very specific kind of piece - with a very specific kind of finish.

And now I have it, for two bucks! So stay tuned.

Ok, so you may remember that a few months ago, I found a square cake stand in another shop. It matched a plate my sister gave me as a housewarming gift some 20+ years ago.

Well, look what else I found. This adorable trivet for $3.00.

Tracy Porter Hand Painted Trivet

I had one piece for over two decades. I never found anything to match it in stores or online. Now in less than a few months, I found two pieces.

Isn't that crazy?

We'll have to see if my luck continues, but at this point, I think it's turning into a collection.

The last two items on my list did not come from a shop, but they are too fabulous not to share.

This tin was sent to us during the holidays from a business associate. The cake was delicious, but the container is what caught my eye. I will definitely be doing something with this charming vine covered box.

I have to put my thinking cap on, but it will probably get a simple makeover, one that won't disturb that lovely pattern.

Lastly, my husband found this gold mirror on one of his bike rides.

I couldn't believe it when he showed up at the back door with it. Smiling.

By my reaction, you would've thought he brought me a pair of diamond earrings, but nope. It was only a second hand mirror.

I guess I'm a cheap date.

Old movie nights at home, grocery store tulips, a box of cookies.

And curbside castoffs.

I'm telling you, that guy knows the way to my heart.

And how to keep the band together.

😉

Have you been thrifting yet this year?

Tell me all about it!!

Wowsers; that mirror! I would’ve had exactly the same reaction. I’m shocked that it would even be kicked to the curb. And that plate! When it rains, it pours; I wonder if another one can be far behind lol.
